2015 College Prospect Camp


Location: Kiwanis Baseball Park, Moncton New Brunswick

Date: Monday, July 13, 2015 to Wednesday, July 15, 2015

Camp Cost: $299.99 plus HST


The 2015 College Prospect Camp is designed for players with aspirations of playing College baseball.

To secure your spot please register early!


General Information


Monday July 13 9:00am-4:00pm

Tuesday July 14 9:00am-4:00pm

Wednesday July 15 9:00am-4:00pm

Lunch will be from 12:00pm to 1:00pm


Each Camper will receive:

  • 18 hours of Top Instruction
  • Prospect Camp T-Shirt
  • Speed and Agility Training
  • Games for evaluation, experience, and learning
  • 1 to 2 minutes of hitting and or pitching video
  • Question and Answer session for players and parents
  • Presentation on Recruiting, Weightlifting, Conditioning, and NCAA,NJCAA and NAIA Eligibility


  • Camp Check-in – Please check in 30-45 minutes prior to start time.


  • What to bring: 
  • Each Prospect must bring his own baseball equipment. Players should bring a glove, bat, batting gloves, helmet, cleats/spikes, running shoes or turf shoes, hat, and any other equipment they feel necessary to compete. Catchers must bring their own gear. Please mark name on all items. The Baseball Academy will not be responsible for lost or stolen items. 


  •  Rick Smith: Jackson College Jets Michigan    
  • Coach Smith enters his twenty fourth season as a Head Baseball Coach and fifth year as a scout for the Texas Rangers in the Michigan Community College Athletic Association and is the senior coach within the Conference. He left his duties at St. Clair County Community College where he compiled a winning record during his sixteen years as coach. His coaching career started as an assistant at Grand Valley State University. During his five years at GVSU, the Lakers won two conference titles and finished as high as sixth in the nation.
  • Coach Smith began his journey at Jackson Community College in August of 2006, as the Head Baseball Coach and Adjunct Faculty in Health and Physical Fitness Department. Since then he has advanced into Administration as the Facilities Director at JCC is 2008. He took a new position in the Foundation Department as Director of Athletic Development in July of 2012 along with Assistant Athletic Director duties and still as the Head Baseball Coach at Jackson College.


Corey Mercer: North Lake College Texas

Coach Mercer became the youngest head coach at North Lake College at the age of 23. Now with 12 years of College under his belt, Coach Mercer has turned the Blazers team into Conference and National contenders every season. The North Lake Blazers have climbed the National rankings into a top 5 position recently. Corey Mercer is a former middle infielder at North Lake as well as NCAA Division I player at the University of North Carolina Ashville. Most recently he has signed 2 players from Ontario. This is all due to his continued interest in attending baseball camps in Northern Ontario and now Atlantic Canada.



J-G Larocque: The Baseball Academy Ontario

J-G is the Owner of The Baseball Academy. During his College career J-G played for North Lake College Texas, Paris JC Texas, California State University Chico and West Virginia State University. After his playing career he coached the Staunton Braves in the Shenandoah Valley League Virginia where he was fortunate enough to coach players such as Jon Jay of the St. Louis Cardinals and Chris Perez of the Milwaukee Brewers. Most recently J-G has coached the Ontario Youth team at the Canada Cup as well as T12. In 2012 Mizuno named him on of the top 20 Most Influential coaches. He has also been an honorable mention on Bob Elliot’s Top 100 most influential Canadians in baseball in 2012, 2013 and 2014. Besides his baseball background, J-G also has several strength and conditioning certifications.

Featured Camps

Summer Camp

The Baseball Academy’s Summer Camp is its biggest event of the year.  The Camp is split into two groups with boys and girls ages 13 and under training together and boys and girls ages 14 and up training together.  The focus of the younger group is grass roots fundamentals and learning the game from the best in a fun setting. The older group continues with fundamentals and more advanced teaching.
